Admissions to the school for a new secondary school place at the beginning of Year 7 should still be dealt with via Essex County Council and the usual admissions process.

Admissions Policy 2018-2020

Prospective parents should be aware that there is no guarantee of place for children living in the school’s priority admissions area. In the event of over-subscription to the school, any remaining places will be allocated using the following criteria in the order given:

  • Looked after children.
  • Children living in the priority admission area with a sibling attending the school.
  • Other children living in the priority admission area.
  • Children resident in the priority admission areas of Buckhurst Hill Community Primary, Chigwell Primary and Limes Farm Junior schools with a sibling attending the school.
  • Other children resident in the Priority Admission areas of Buckhurst Hill Community Primary, Chigwell Primary and Limes Farm Junior schools.
  • Children living outside the priority admission area with a sibling attending the school.
  • Remaining applications.

In the event of over subscription within any of the above criteria, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given highest priority. Exceptional medical circumstances (supported by medical evidence) may override the above criteria (other than Looked After Children and previously looked after children).

Siblings
Please note that there is no guarantee of a place for pupils moving into the area served by the school after the published closing date for applications for Year 7.Visitor Reception Area at Roding Valley High School

*A sibling is defined as a child living in the same family unit in the same family household and address as a child who attends the preferred school in any year group excluding the final year. This includes brothers, sisters, stepbrothers and stepsisters. In addition, biological siblings who attend the preferred school will be treated as siblings irrespective of place of residence. Children residing in the same household as part of an extended family, such as cousins, will not be treated as siblings.
